While the above photo was not the highlight of the day it was just too funny not to get a picture. Thats is the Amesville Ohio police cruiser. Amesville is a local town so small I didnt realize they even had a police department. To put it in perspective the town is so small that the Post office was shut down for not making enough money. A quick google check shows the population at 5000 which seems a high estimate ( I know its a census but still).

Anyways I replaced the front pads on the Toyota this morning, still need to do the rear, changed the oil last night. Had to drive up to Columbus to the Apple Store to pickup an external hard drive that I need for a project I want to have done by the weekend. I am part of the way through following the Center for Internet Security Hardening guidelines for OS X and realized I don’t have any backup drive for my computer. I would use internet but quick calculations estimated approximately two weeks to back up the 118GB to the cloud. That was pretty interesting, I always have the best experiences at the Apple Store. Picked up a 1TB mobile drive for $60.00. Pretty good deal.

Wandered around Easton mall for a bit. Went to a cool watch shop, a cool shaving shop, and a really cool mens clothing store called Filsons, just a lot of really nice, overpriced clothes.

Aaaaaand, I went to a Tesla DEALERSHIP!!!!!!!! It was kinda exciting to actually sit in one. No Pictures because it was so crowded. Im not sure what people are talking about with lack of quality feel. Everything was very solid built, fine quality. Good fit and finish. The Gullwing doors on the Model X is cool, let me rephrase that. Everything about the Model X is cool. Probably the most futuristic looking car if ever scene. I could get used to the Tesla future.

Thats all, good night oppo, been a long day.

My home town is somewhere between 600-700. They always have a nice, newish police vehicle (last I saw, the ‘98-ish P71 had been replaced by a ‘09+ F-150 SCREW), and they still have a post office and 2 bars!

The 2010 census has the population at 154 people.

That’s sounds right for amesville proper, the 5000 was pulled off the amesville government website and is probably a high estimate of the surrounding countryside. Upon talking to my dad, I learned that they apperently think they are really something and viscioisly enforce speed. They and the amesville government are apparently not well liked. Country life is so much better, nobody tells you what you can and can’t do.

I noticed you said *the* police cruiser. I’m assuming that is more or less accurate?

Wowee, my guess is that state funding for the police department is basically zero. Makes much more sense to give it to the Athens county sheriffs dept.where it will get much more use from real law enforcement.

That’s my guess based on this being first and only time I have ever seen a police car here, in the 18 years we’ve lived in the area and been driving been driving through the town. I’m guessing it must be the only one. My dad knows a lot of the local law enforcement and he said he was pretty sure there were somewhere in the neighborhood of 3-4 officers total on the force.

The most small town thing I’ve ever seen was in Texas maybe a mile off the Mexian broader there was a bank built in a trailer house. A bank in s MOBILE home

My brother-in-law was superintendent of public works for a small city and he said cop shops are going for SUVs and pickups now because sedans are too lightweight and have no full size spare tire.

The fascist speed enforcement might be a primary source of revenue to keep the gas tank full on their cruiser.

Ask Dad: sort of like a homeowners’ association?

I honestly don’t know how they managed to get by with a Crown Vic for so long in Minne-snow-ta. It would seem a 4x4 of some sort should have been a requirement all along.

You’d think. I’m just happy I don’t live where it snows.

Like many HOAs. It’s folks’ religion. Or they need to go and get an actual one.

On the list of things I don’t miss, deep snow and road salt are a firm #1.

There might be a thing or two that I miss less than that, but none come readily to mind.

Old post, but I HAAAAAATED Lumina police cars. The only good thing about them was Recaro seats and they were apparently shit.
